We offer a complete solenoid valve seal kit for S50B30 engines for various BMW models.
Another well known problem with VANOS units is the special sealing rings of the solenoid valves in the VANOS unit, which tend to leak relatively quickly. This is due to the material used (NBR, nitrile butadiene rubber), which is not suitable for the high temperatures in the engine compartment.
The problem is related to the unique shape of the groove. Although it is possible to use Viton (FPM/FKM) o-rings (we use these o-rings in our seal kits for the entire VANOS unit), there is a slightly higher risk of extrusion due to the unqiue shape of the groove.
Therefore we opted, based on the shape of the standard sealing rings, for a special design that significantly reduces the risk of extrusion due to the flat and slightly wider inner side and offers higher contact pressure thanks to a u-profile on the outside with significantly stronger flanks.
